What should be paid attention to when matching color masterbatch
Color masterbatch manufacturers would like to share with you that in terms of color matching for color masterbatch, some factories in China have adopted computerized color matching, but most factories rely on experience to determine the formula. The following is a brief description of color matching precautions.
(1) The basic characteristics of colored plastics first need to understand the color of the colored plastic itself. Because sometimes the same variety may have yellowing due to differences in manufacturer, brand, or other reasons, it is necessary to eliminate it when matching colors. In addition, there are often additives in plastics, such as UV absorbers, antioxidants, etc., which can react with pigments and cause the product to change color (which will be introduced in Chapter 6).
(2) The performance of pigments varies depending on the processing temperature of different plastics, so when choosing pigments, attention must be paid to their heat resistance, otherwise pigments will decompose and change color at high temperatures.
(3) Table 1-3 shows the conditions for commonly used plastics during preparation and molding, as well as the requirements for colorants.
(4) Color design steps
① Find reference coloring materials from colored plastic samples (templates) with known ratios, and identify samples of similar colors as reference materials.
② Carefully compare the differences and similarities in color, shade, and other aspects between the reference material and the color matching sample, and use the reference material to roughly determine the color matching contained in the color matching sample.
③ Color matching experiment shall be conducted according to the proposed formula until registration is achieved.
To ensure the accuracy of color matching, color matching work should be carried out on sunny days or under the sun, and continuous observation should be avoided to avoid errors caused by eye fatigue.
